Rising Gasoline Prices Make for a Strong Electric Vehicle (EV) Case

Abstract

EV drivers typically have a fuel cost advantage nationwide. Volatile and rising gas prices further strengthen the cost-per-mile advantage of EVs over gasoline vehicles. Fuel prices are a major driver of vehicle ownership costs over time. Gasoline price increases can be subject to geopolitical tensions or other volatility, sparking renewed interest in cost-per-mile comparisons between electric and internal combustion engine vehicles (ICEVs) that are powered by gasoline.
